project life: week 42...

Week 42 was one of my very favorite weeks...in life and in Project Life! This week, we found our home, made an offer, had it accepted and moved quickly toward making it ours. When a week starts off like that, you can't help but make it good and be inspired. But, the January Citrus Twist Kits helped it along. As I mentioned in my last post, Studio Calico's PrintShop is a fantastic line and I loved playing with the softer, lighter patterns in the 6x6 pad this week to allow the fall photos to pop.

This week we visited a local pumpkin patch, went on G's first preschool field trip to a nature center and added some fall decor.

On Monday, we made the offer on our (now) home. the bottom left photos were taken with my iPhone that day. I collaged them together, added a couple of digital stamps and the geotag/heart wood veneer.

I loved the lightness of this white and tan floral and decided to keep my date card simple, punching out a few circles and adding back in other patterns with scraps.
This stitched plastic Studio Calico pocket was perfect for adding the details of the end of our house hunting journey and details about our new home. I wrote the address, square footage, acreage, stats and offer price in my journaling.

And, with baby on the way her little face may be the next post you see unless I get some nursery sneaks together before then. If you have been effected by the (!#%*?*!!) polar vortex like we have...stay warm!!

project life: week 39 and citrus twist november kits...

Happy Friday everyone! I am sharing Week 39 in my yearly album today. It was a week packed with activities, stories, aqua and pink. I had so much fun playing with the November PL and PL Embellishment kits!

My left page focused on things happening at home: a note about my boys being morning people, my new ironing routine for my oldest son's school uniforms, play time, collecting baby girl clothing and a note about stray socks.

The right side was about what happened outside: visits to a local nature center (aren't the floral and butterfly patterns perfect for these outdoor photos?), my 20 week anatomy scan, family breakfast at a favorite diner and a sweet quote from my oldest about his baby sister-to-be.

I absolutely loved this frame pattern in the Polka Dot Party collection and wanted to maximize its impact by using it for my weekly date card. I simply used my craft knife to cut out the inside of several of the frames and added other snips of patterns from the 6x6 pad and a glassine pocket of sequins to the back. Then, layered the kit washi tape on a few other openings, stamped my dates on a label and tucked that partially inside another frame. The finish was the 39 using the fun, glittery Thickers from the PL Embellishment kit.

The 1/2/3 exclusive wood veneers were a super fun inclusion and I wanted to make them stand out. This week, as I was writing out the conversation between my husband and son I knew the three would be a perfect accent to highlight G's age (journaling card is a printable freebie from my stash). I colored the number with a pink Sharpie pen and then added the coordinating hot pink butterfly paper to the top of the card.

And a few other close ups on favorite cards...

project life: week 34 with october citrus twist kits!

Happy Friday! I'm up on the Citrus Twist Kits blog today sharing my Week 34 layout (with more details) and decided to post here as well. October's kits are soft, pretty and just a bit bold with pops of hot pink! The exclusive flair, stamps, 3x4 cards and wood veneer are swoon worthy. I worked with the Pocket Life kit, the Pocket Life Embellishment Add-on and the Stamp Add-on. The stamp add on this month is food related and completely amazing!

{Week 34: August 19-25}
We ate popsicles to combat the late summer heat, played with new toys, helped YiaYia garden and tried a yummy new recipe...

One BIG thing this week? We listed our condo for sale! It's been a very long time coming (ahem, 2+ years) but we finally took the leap to sell the home where we started our family and move on to accommodate to growth! We baked, went to the park, spent a day with G's godmother and I had a scrappy play date with a friend of mine. The little illustration of Max from Where the Wild Things Are? The boys love the book right now and had torn apart our copy's dust jacket. I managed to salvage this one piece and it was perfect for a 3x4 card...

week 31: september citrus twist kits

Bring on the pink! My Week 31 was full of the gorgeous, softer tones that came in this month's kits. Not my usual color scheme at all but, with the warm summer photos it just worked. The "Hello Again" 6x6 pad included in the PL kit got a heavy workout. I love this collection!

This week brought a mix of sun and rain, perfect for the weather add-on stamp this month. For the far middle left card, I stamped both on an adhesive label and used a colored pencil to check off. This week brought outdoor play, indoor play, a swim play date, digging in the dirt, a carousel ride and couch forts..

And, even more dirt. It's a theme around here ;) That little vellum pocket hold some special memories that I wanted documented but, didn't want to taking up several card slots...

And some close ups here of my favorite pieces this week...

Thanks for stopping by! I'll be back with Week 32 soon (it's finished but not photographed) and hopefully much more to follow as I play catch up here!

pocket life: week 30 with the september citrus twist kits...

Fully aware that it is now week 38 (eep!), I'm sharing my week 30 spread today. I loved the September PL and Embellishment kits this month. LOVED. Anyone familiar with my PL style knows that I do not go for flowery patterns or anything pink but, the tides seem to be turning a bit (hmmm...more on that one later...) and I embraced both this month. See?

I'll be back on Monday sharing my Week 31 which is very pink but, for now, here we go with the last week in July...

We had a wildlife experience in our front yard, celebrated potty training success, Face Timed with Mr. Boom at work, enjoyed bath time and celebrated the birth of a prince. That blue vellum iPhone (swoon!) was cut using my Silhouette from a 2peas cut file...

We went to the park, went to the zoo, napped, played and had a great weekend visit with my parents. Oh, look! I got myself in there too!

The "love" card here was made using a piece of the Hello Again 6x6 paper in the PL kit and cut with my Silhouette, backed with another piece of patterned paper from the same pad.
My date card this week was one of the textured 4x6 cards included in the PL kit, a piece of one of the exclusive 3x4 cards, stickers from the Hello Again sheet in the Embellishment kit and a couple of labels. Simple! I love that people paper chain border sticker...

Thanks for stopping by!

layout: hello silliness...

A few weeks ago, we had a picnic at the park. After eating our lunch, Mr. Boom and the boys played pee-a-boo with me from behind a tree, resulting is some of my favorite ever playful photos! They begged to be scrapped immediately...
The September Citrus Twist Kits are so fun and bright - perfect for my subject, don't you agree? I created the title section by layering a vellum silhouette cut over two pieces of patterned paper and adding some alphabet stickers and a snip of another fun pattern.

pocket life week 25: farewell to greece

Today I am posting on the Citrus Twist Kits blog and sharing details about my PL Week 25 using the August kits and wanted to post here as well:

Saying goodbye to Greece was so bittersweet. While we had a wonderful final week enjoying time with family, the beach and little day trips, it was also a difficult ending knowing we would not see some of our favorite people or our favorite place again for a year or more. So the photos are a little bit of all the good of those few days...
I combined the kits with some digital elements and Silhouette cuts. It's true to my style now and using the three together makes my pages feel more complete. I LOVED the exclusive 3x4 cards this month - especially the two I used on this page ("I love you to the moon" and, "This is where I want to be")...
 Greece, you were good to us!

project life: july 4th, revisited...

I'm in catch up mode here and fitting in bits of journaling and creating along with playtime outside, getting G ready for preschool (!!!) and our usual everyday routine. I completed the first two weeks in July this week and have photos printed and ready for the third. Today, I'm sharing my week 27:

{July 1 - 7}
Lots of time with extended family. My uncle was in from California for a visit, we took a mini-vacation to my aunt and uncle's lake house and G met Lightning McQueen!
Lots of photos from our lake trip and a couple of backyard fun photos from the weekend when we returned:
Simple. Done. I used some of my Seafoam core kit, a few pieces from leftover CTK kits and called it finished.

***Please join me tomorrow (Friday) for a CTK Celebration Blog Hop...with prizes! And again on Saturday where I'll be sharing Week 28 and another Project Life blog hop full of inspiration.

project life: greek style!

I have documented the first two weeks of our vacation and am currently working on the third. The July Citrus Twist Kits happened to be travel themed and were absolutely perfect for recording memories from this trip. I was happy to work with the Pocket Life, Travel Add-on and Stamp Add-ons for July. The CTK exclusive stamps in the Pocket Life kit this month were the second in a series I designed for the club and I am thrilled with how they turned out! These pages are only the highlights from our trip. More on that at the end of this post...

{Week 23: Greece Week 1}
Flight details, my little travelers, beach playground and a lovely beginning...
 Awesome food, beach weather, relaxation. I made a little vellum bitty bag using my Silhouette to hold our boarding passes (the "Fly Away" card in the middle)...
 {Week 24: Greece Week 2}
More beach days, more good eats, goofing around with cousins, gorgeous scenery and the catch of the day...
 Week in review, catch of the day at the fish docks, favorite beach photos, Father's Day at sunset and family...
So, where are the inserts? The rest of the thousandS of photos? I have a plan. Since this is our normal vacation spot, I've decided to make a separate PL album just for Greece. Each time we go there will be a new divided section for that trip. I love the idea of being able to flip though multiple years of photos in the same locations, with the same people and seeing growth and change. I've ordered the Jade Core kit, need to choose an album and will make that dedicated album SIMPLE. As this year was my third trip to Greece, I will be going backward and beginning that album with our honeymoon photos. The beginning of our family! Stay tuned :)

back in time: project life catch up...

Before we left for Greece I had just one scrappy goal: get current with my project life album. Meaning, have my pages done right up until the day we left. Between gathering last minute things we needed, play dates and packing it was a bit of a feat but, I managed to get it done! Here is my week 22, using a lot of hybrid cards and the Jade digi PL kit:

{Week 22: May 27 - June 3}
I extended this PL week to include the day before we left for vacation and am glad I did. On Memorial Day we went to the zoo and took the Dino Safari. Or, as G called it, "Baba's Dinosaur Birthday party!" since opening day fell on Mr. Boom's birthday. A me and G park trip, the arrival of my Origami Owl Living Locket and a tuckered out toddler.
A park trip in the sweltering heat, brothers at play, Jack's silly TV viewing position,gifts from friends, getting back to Filofaxing and breakfast at the diner.
Caught up before vacation! Just don't ask me how far behind I am on the flip side...oops!

7.24.2013

hello, can you see me? back to blogging...

It's been a month. And a few days. Funny how an international vacation, followed closely by a local vacation kind of throws things off! I'm back and will try to get back to my at least weekly posting!

Greece was incredible. The boys were amazing travelers. The weather was near perfect our entire stay. The sea was crystal clear. The food was, well, come on, it was Greece ;) And on that note. A little glimpse into what we ate...Instagram collage style:

In order from top left: giant apples, giant donuts, amazing pizza, hand cut oregano fries. spaghetti, cucumber and tomato salad, beach frappes, frappes at home, bouyatsa, grilled octopus, fresh pastries, greek groceries and tiropita.

And, a layout using two of my very favorite photos of the boys from our trip. I stretched myself and shot in manual most of the time. I was thrilled with the results! What a difference a few settings make. This layout is using my July Citrus Twist Pocket Life kit, featuring my second exclusive stamp designs. The title was designed and cut with my Silhouette and attached with twine.
Be back very soon with two weeks of Project Life from our trip!

 {Week 18: May 6-12}
George and his Pappou's Name Day (St. George's Day), a Target trip and quip, swinging at the park and Mother's Day...
