seas the day :: new issue monday!

Good morning! Today, I'm sharing my layout for the brand-new Issue launching today on the Paper Issues blog: Seas the Day! This Issue was sponsored by October Afternoon and the DT worked with the incredible Treasure Map line.

This paper line has so many possibilities but, I used it literally here for a beachy layout using photos from our last family vacation to Greece in 2013. These are my very favorite photos of each of the boys from that trip. Perfect match! This entire layout was made using the October Afternoon Treasure Map line, save the sticker letter (also OA!) and Silhouette cut title.

Play along with and LINK UP to Seas The Day and you will have a chance to win this October Afternoon Treasure Map collection pack for yourself. This is a prize you don't want to miss! How to get in the running?

1. Create a new project (or find and existing one in your albums) that fits into one of these categories: summer/vacation, anything that can be enjoyed on or by the water (boating, fishing, etc.), use anchors as an embellishment, use October Afternoon products, use Paper Issues FREE June or July printables

2. LINK UP HERE to the Seas The Day blog post from the web or Instagram. You have until Sunday, July 5th.  It's that easy!

love you more :: all the gold...

Today, I'm sharing the second home decor piece I created for the current Issue: Hooray for Red, White and Blue! One of the suggested projects is use of nautical elements. I absolutely LOVE October Afternoon's new Treasure Map line and, as it so happens, the colors are a great match for the living room we are currently decorating. I've been looking around Etsy and Insta sales for a "Love You More" sign but these papers inspired me to go ahead and create my own. I'm thrilled with how this project came together and cannot wait to see it displayed in our home!

I started this project with white cardstock and cut words with my Silhouette using the Bebas Neue font, leaving room for my foiled word in the center. Then, using two printed papers, I cut the words a second time and pieced the patterned letters into the negative spaces of my white piece. Super simple with this block font. I mounted the die cut design on two thicknesses of white craft foam to create the dimension.

I cut the Lawn Fawn script love metal die from iCraft Double Sided Adhesive Foam and used gold Deco Foil on the front. The hardest part of this project was getting the super sticky foam piece off my fingers and on the proper spot! I layered everything onto another framed piece of the OA Treasure Map collection, Siren's Point (it matches our living room carpet!) and called this done.

LINK UP your own project(s) - new or existing! - for a chance to win a fantastic Therm O Web Deco Foil and iCraft adhesive pack of your own.

new issue monday :: hooray for the red, white & blue...

There is a brand new Issue up on the Paper Issues blog today: Hooray for the Red, White and Blue! PI matched up with Therm O Web for this super shiny new challenge. The Creative Team used a selection of Deco Foils and adhesives on our projects. When I saw the color selection included teal and gold metallics, I decided to create home decor pieces, as both are colors in our front hall and living room. Today, I am sharing this framed piece that I made for our entry hall table.

I used the beautiful Crate Paper Craft Market line for this project, starting with a grid design cut from the 6x6 paper pad. I created my cluster of embellishments using the Craft Market die cut stickers, puffy stickers and an alphabet I had on hand. My finishing touch and focal point was the foiled house number. I used teal Deco Foil over numbers die cut from iCraft Deco Foil White Foam Adhesive. The foil adhered completely in one application!

LINK UP to the Hooray for Red, White and Blue Issue for a chance to win a set of Therm O Web iCraft Deco Foils and Adhesives for your own projects. Here's how:
  1. Create a project (or find an existing one!) using these themes: patriotic, Memorial Day, military heroes, parades, use red, white and blue, nautical elements, use Therm O Web products, use the May or June free Paper Issues printables
  2. LINK UP HERE! Link as many projects as you'd like to the Issue post link party.
  3. Check back to see if you are our winner!
I'll be back tomorrow with the second decor project I created for this Issue. Hope to see you again!

rise and shine :: die cut saturday

Today is Die Cutting Saturday on the Paper Issues blog which means FREE cut files for you, along with inspiration from the creative team! Danielle de Konink designed the files this month and they are fantastic, set up ready to use as 3x4 cards.

I had originally planned on using them in just that way, then this mug arrived from my mom. It needed it's own page as an ode to coffee...my mommy fuel! So, I pulled two of the designs out of the card formats and combined them for the hot pink piece, reserving the positive cuts of the hearts to accent the white space.

I combined a number of lines for this layout: 7paper Amelia 6x6 Pad and black word stickers, Jen Hadfield Home + Made for Pebbles patterned paper, Bella Boulevard felt bow, Fancy Pants Office Suite die cuts, Pinkfresh Studio enamel stickers and wood veneer and, of course, Paper Issues Swag Bag bits!

The cut files are ready to download from the Paper Issues store, completely free! should you find yourself in need of some other supplies to match up with the file, use code JENBOOM for 20% off any order!

read & explore :: paper issues swag bags

Happy Sunday all! I'm showcasing a new project on the PI Blog today using two Paper Issues favorites: Swag Bags and a sketch. The April Swag Bag was so, so good. Exclusive PI + Pinkfresh Studio rub-ons, lots of Fancy Pants Designs Office Suite and touches of gold.

I snapped this photo of Amalia as she was exploring the library last week and could not wait to get it scrapped. I pulled soft pastels and pops of bold black and white from my Swag Bag to build my layout and to play off the picture. The exclusive rub-ons are so gorgeous in black and gold and take to paper like a dream!

I've been keeping this awesome PI sketch by Jen Chapin in mind and used it as inspiration for this page.

paper issues and tombow blog hop...

Hello and Welcome to the Tombow USA and Paper Issues Blog Hop!

You probably got here from Erin Reed's post but if you got lost, head over to the Paper Issues blog to start!

My page tells a tale of mischief and two tiny banana bread thieves. My middle son (3) took an opportunity to climb up on our kitchen counter, grab the bread box and headed to his chosen hide out under the dining table, along with his one year old sister, to enjoy the prize. When I discovered them, he cheesed and asked me to take his photo. Stinker!

There are a lot of elements to this page from a die cut and paper pieced background to layers of patterned paper and lots of die cut embellishments. I grabbed the rich, colorful Fancy Pants Flutter collection to use for this page. It all came together easily with Tombow USA products. I used the
Tombow Mono Adhesive Permanent for the larger paper pieces and photos. The NEW Tombow Adhesive Dots were perfect for the large die cuts, especially that banner - giving just a slight dimension over the elements underneath. And then an all time favorite of mine, the Tombow Mono Aqua Liquid Glue. This glue dries super clear and the fine tip allowed me to adhere even the tiny text pieces on the photos securely and without mess.

Both Tombow USA and Paper Issues are offering giveaways so be sure to visit all of the blogs on the hop.

Paper Issues is giving away a $20 Gift Certificate to the Paper Issue store!

To win, visit and comment on ALL of the participating bloggers' posts. When you're done, be sure to head on over to the Paper Issues Facebook page and tell us which project is your favorite. You have until May 12 at 11:59 EST to comment. Winners will be picked randomly and announced on May 13, 2015.

Remember to “like” Tombow USA and Paper Issues on Facebook!

Your next stop is Jennie García.

Here is the line up in case you get lost:

project life monday :: love you more...

Happy Monday! I'm starting off the week on the Paper Issues blog with my favorite...pockets. This page is documenting week nine which included our wedding anniversary so, I went with a love inspired theme of pinks and corals with mint and gold accents.

While my husband and I never managed a selfie (us-ie?) on our celebratory date night, I documented some thoughts on our 6 years of marriage in the embellished bitty bag on the top row and again with the Date Night card on the bottom row. Oh, and that bottom left list? Remembering my eldest son's first head injury requiring a trip to urgent care. The plus sign - from the MME On Trend Gold Foil Sticker pack - and a staple were quite fitting. Here's a closer look at some favorite bits:

For this page, I used mainly Swag Bag pieces, MME On Trend and the March Scrapbook Circle kit from our current Prints Charming Issue (hint, hint: LINK UP HERE!).

Grab some goodies from the Paper Issues shop for your own pocket pages and creations at 20% off with code JENBOOM. Happy creating!!

george at five: painting by the numbers...

Hello all! I'm sharing a layout today for the brand new Issue: Painting by the Numbers over on the Paper Issues blog. As soon as I saw the Waffle Flower stamp set the creative team was sent to use, I knew exactly what I wanted to create. Our oldest, George, turned FIVE in December and I love this photo I snapped of him wearing his birthday crown from his school party.

I started off with the Crate Paper Boys Rule collection in front of me and pulled out a blue-ish/aqua cardstock to coordinate. Using a Versamark ink pad, I stamped the open number 5 over and over to created a waterfall effect down the page. Using mainly the cutaway sheet in the 6x6 paper pad, I pieced together my embellishments to frame the photo and allow the stamped background a starring role. Speaking of stars, how awesome is that gold puffy star? It's actually May Arts ribbon!

The much of the Boys Rule collection is in stock at Paper Issues, along with so much other awesomeness! Pick up something to get your creativity flowing at 20% off using code JENBOOM

a fantastic card...

Happy Monday all! The sun is shining here, it is almost 50 degrees (finally!) and the thaw is coming. So to celebrate, I made this fun little card to link up with the new Issue over at Paper Issues. The fan, stars and phrase are from one of Lawn Fawn's new releases, Best Pun Ever.

Enamored with Enamel is wide open to interpretation. I chose to use the enamel dots and polka dot patterned papers to play along this time! I hope you'll make something to join in the fun. You could win a Paper Camellia March Kit for linking a project by March 15th - new or old! Here are the details:
  • Use enamel embellishments, like enamel dots, hearts, chevrons, words, etc.
  • Do you love stars? Let them take a starring role on your project.
  • Are polka dots your thing? Go ahead, go dotty with dots.
  • Get things pointed in the right direction by using arrows, geotags, globes, etc.
  • Is punctuation your thing? Add punctuation symbols to your project.
  • Share the love by using hearts.
  • Show us something you absolutely love, whether it be a person, flower, food, thing, place, movie, song, etc.
  • Use Paper Camellia's kits.

time with you...

Happy Valentine's weekend! As I was thinking about my next project, I realized that it would be posting this weekend and knew the layout would be full of hearts. I've been wanting to use both this Crate Paper Styleboard line and TFD Coffee Lover flair set for a while now but, seasonal projects kept taking precedence. I love that this Crate Paper line has a mix of bold patterns and softer feminine touches. As I scrolled though my photos, I came across this one of my mom and I from late last year and was immediately inspired.

My mom? Love.
Red cups? Love.
Coffee? Love.

Several years ago, my mom and I used to spend long days shopping, taking trips to New York City and doing all kinds of leisurely, girly things. As roles have shifted and time has been crunched, our outings have become shortened and not nearly as exciting but...no less meaningful.

How fun is this Coffee Lover set? I'm already plotting to use the rest because, coffee! Not a coffee lover yourself (whaaaat???)? No problem! There is an equally perfect Tea Lover set.

If you'd like to grab some flair for yourself, head over to Toni's shop and use code: JENBOUMIS for 10% off any order of $10 or more. Cheers!!!

documenting life with a bit of swag...

Happy Sunday! I have a new pocket layout to share today using my new favorite product line. As soon as the sneak peeks of the Simple Stories Life Documented collection were released a few months back, I fell hard. Hearts, wood grain, bright colors and coordinating pocket cards made it a necessity. As soon as the products arrived on my doorstep this past week, I was planning my first project (and several more). For this page, I used the Life Documented 2015 card pack, the Icon Sticker Pack the Bradz Brads (which, by the way, are adhesive! No more prongs!) and the fabulous February Swag Bag. That's all!

This pages focuses on the two big events of the last week of January - Amalia turning ONE and the now infamous blizzard that wasn't for our area, Juno. While this collection has nothing to do with winter or birthdays, it worked perfectly to document both events on one page.

And, can we just pause for a moment to marvel that this baby is one? She amazes me every day, my sweet girl.

Here's an overview of the Life Documented line available now. It's stocked in the Paper Issues shop and you can have it all for 20% off with code JENBOOM. Enjoy!

New Issue Monday: Say It Ain't Snow Cold Outside!

But it is. Cooooooold! A brand new Issue is up today on the Paper Issues blog and you have so many options to create or link up a new or existing project to win a great prize! I'll share all of the details below but, first, here is my layout:

Last Wednesday, my husband and I had arranged for babysitting so that he and I could attend G's school conference and then go out for a coffee date. As luck would have it, both G and Amalia woke up sick that morning. I ended up going to the conference alone and we all went to the pediatrician together right after. We tried our best to still make that coffee date happen...using the Starbucks drive thru. Best laid plans!

I used the Paper Issues January Cut Files in my design (the interlocking hearts and the title), some of the Project Life Desktop collection (chipboard stickers and 6x6 pad) and Lawn Fawn Love You a Latte stamps and dies.

I can't wait to see what YOU do with our new Issue! Here are all the details:
