paper issues and tombow blog hop...

Hello and Welcome to the Tombow USA and Paper Issues Blog Hop!

You probably got here from Erin Reed's post but if you got lost, head over to the Paper Issues blog to start!

My page tells a tale of mischief and two tiny banana bread thieves. My middle son (3) took an opportunity to climb up on our kitchen counter, grab the bread box and headed to his chosen hide out under the dining table, along with his one year old sister, to enjoy the prize. When I discovered them, he cheesed and asked me to take his photo. Stinker!

There are a lot of elements to this page from a die cut and paper pieced background to layers of patterned paper and lots of die cut embellishments. I grabbed the rich, colorful Fancy Pants Flutter collection to use for this page. It all came together easily with Tombow USA products. I used the
Tombow Mono Adhesive Permanent for the larger paper pieces and photos. The NEW Tombow Adhesive Dots were perfect for the large die cuts, especially that banner - giving just a slight dimension over the elements underneath. And then an all time favorite of mine, the Tombow Mono Aqua Liquid Glue. This glue dries super clear and the fine tip allowed me to adhere even the tiny text pieces on the photos securely and without mess.

Both Tombow USA and Paper Issues are offering giveaways so be sure to visit all of the blogs on the hop.

Paper Issues is giving away a $20 Gift Certificate to the Paper Issue store!

To win, visit and comment on ALL of the participating bloggers' posts. When you're done, be sure to head on over to the Paper Issues Facebook page and tell us which project is your favorite. You have until May 12 at 11:59 EST to comment. Winners will be picked randomly and announced on May 13, 2015.

Remember to “like” Tombow USA and Paper Issues on Facebook!

Your next stop is Jennie García.

Here is the line up in case you get lost:

oh, we're halfway there: project life update and a blog hop!

2014. you have been amazing, trying, awesome, fulfilling, frustrating and have not failed to surprise. We are at the halfway point this week. How? Moving to a new house, having a baby two weeks later and being home with three children under five years old might have gotten me a little behind in my scrapbooking. It's okay. Really. And blogging, well, you can see how well that's gone since my last post was...when exactly? Today, I'm sharing several weeks in my 2014 album. I am not caught up. Not at all. But, every week day moment that is documented is an accomplishment.

Follow along with me on today's Blog Hop sharing Project Life updates and inspiration...
Here is the entire line up!

I'm sharing five weeks worth of pages today. The first two are very simple, get them done types with very little embellishing. The others are pages created with my monthly Citrus Twist Kits...

Week Eight: This week, we had lots of at home down time and special visits with family.

Week 10: This week found us settling a bit more into a routine as a family of five. The weather let up enough that we were able to enjoy a bit of fresh air and our little sweetheart started smiling!

I love writing out stories and documenting events but, sometimes a short hand list works just as well! This card from the Kiwi core kit was perfect for summing up this week.

Week 14: Exploring a local park for the first time, Amalia is two months, Gold Card status and G attending his first Home Depot Kids Workshop.

Week 19: Mother's Day, our new yard in bloom, time with friends and family.

Week 20: Creative play, a visit with my mom, my new iPhone arrived, a visit to a local farm and lots and lots of coffee.

I had a LOT of photos I wanted to use this week and really am trying not to use inserts, to conserve space in my albums. This layout is an example of how to get the story told while maximizing those photo slots: 1) my date card is a list of highlights, 2) this filler card (below) has a little punched notch revealing the hidden journaling cards I slipped behind.

Thank you for joining me! I hope you'll continue the Blog Hop and find inspiration for your own Project Life album.

blog hop day 4: citrus twist kits & the crafter's workshop...

Welcome to Day Four of our Life Bits Blog Hop!

Citrus Twist Kits is teaming with The Crafter's Workshop this month for a blog hop and giveaways. We are celebrating the launch of Citrus Twist Kit's Design Girl, Jen Boumis' (hey, that's me!!!), Life Bits stencils. It all started with my handwritten style (that you Pocket Lifer's got to enjoy with our exclusively designed PL stamps this summer) paired with The Crafter's Workshop owner Jaime Echt to create fabulous and fun 3 x 4 stencils for TCW.

Here are some of the results of that TCW/Jen Boumis partnership:
TCWOrderFormSummer2013.xlsx
The blog hop begins today, September 9th, and continues on Mondays and Wednesdays in September through the 23rd. Some of our Pocket Life Design Girls--Jen Boumis (yup, still me!), April Joy Hill and WaiSam Ho--are joining with The Crafter's Workshop Design Team members--[Ronda Palazzari and Julie Fei-Fan Balzer]--to share how they are using these wonderful little Life Bits stencils, perfect for life's little projects. Each day of the blog hop--September 9th, September 11th, September 16th,  September 18th and 23rd--when you leave a comment or love for the participating designers on their individual blogs and end your hop by leaving a comment here on the Citrus Twist Kits blog you'll be entered into a drawing for a free Life Bits stencil.

We'll draw a name from all the people who leave a comment on the Citrus Twist Kits blog each day of the hop and will give away one stencil each day of the hop.

On today's blog hop we are featuring the creative ways the design team members used "Remember This":

I chose to use this stencil to add detail to a greeting card. Using some misted papers as a base (used with other TCW stencils), I simply used a black Sharpie pen to add only the words "Remember This" to the top layer and some of the outlines to the bottom layer. I then used one of my stamps designs on a label, added a bit of washi and some smudges of extra color with blue and coral Gelatos. Done! These stencils are versatile tools, not just for pocket scrapbooking!

Thank you for stopping by for the hop. Be sure to leave your comments (or some love) below for your chance to win one of the new The Crafter's Workshop Life Bits stencils.

This time, the stencil was used with just a simple misting of two colors - pink and orange - to create the soft, watercolor effect you see here.

To add to the soft look, I used a light blue Gelato to smudge around the little hand drawn circles on the upper left and to add a touch of color inside the stenciled heart.

For this card, a dimensional modeling paste was applied to the stencil. After drying, an iridescent paint was washed over the entire surface. Then, a white Uniball Signo gel Pen was used to trace back over the stencil lines for a pop! Paired with a label and one of my Citrus Twist exclusive stamps, a couple of stickers and some journaling, a card listing come of my very favorite things in life is complete!

On today's blog hop we are featuring the creative ways the design team members used "Hello Today". I chose to use this stencil over a misted background on watercolor paper. Using a super fine line .01 black pigment marker, I traced around the outline:
Then, using my favorite creamy Prismacolor pencil in a coordinating blue, I added color between the lines:
Layered on half of a 4x6 grid card, simply embellished with a few hearts, a hand stitched line and a label with one of my exclusive Citrus Twist Kits stamps and I have a perfectly beachy card ready to slip in our vacation album.
